I Am Rich – February 23rd
Have you ever wanted to be rich? What if you found our that you already were? This Sunday kicks-off a brand new message series called BE RICH. It’s not about pursuing wealth. The Bible teaches us in 1 Timothy 6:17-19 to be rich in what matters most so that we can give more and do more with the life God has given us.
This series of messages and even a book on the topic originally comes from Pastor Andy Stanley and North Point Community Church in Atlanta. But is has also been adapted and used by Pastor Craig Groschel of LifeChurch.tv as well as many other pastors and churches worldwide. Pastor Buddy Lamb, my mentor and friend, has seen God use these messages at Schomburg Rd. Baptist Church to powerfully change their member’s perspective on money and the way they live their lives.
This Sunday Pastor Buddy Lamb will be with us at RiverTown to help us get this new message series started off right. Pastor Buddy will share with us about the power of the understanding how rich you already are in his message titled: ”I AM RICH!”

Rich in Character – March 2nd
I’ve heard it said many times: The Man IS The Message!
The messenger so important because of the meaning, credibilty, and personal journey he represents! This Sunday is one of those days that the messenger makes all the difference.
Slowly, “under the radar” for seven years God has been preparing a soldier in our midst as a soldier for Christ! Matthew Cotner came to Columbus seven years ago as a U.S. Army Ranger and has served as a volunteer in every area of ministry inside and outside of the church that RiverTown has to offer. He has now taken the position as a learning and growing ministry intern on our ministry staff in addition to still serving our nation as a contractor for The Rangers on Ft. Benning full time. Matt teaches middle school and high school students on Wednesday nights for our family ministry and will lead our Sunday morning welcome teams! All the volunteers in these ministries have been so excited about Matt and his wife Michelle’s Gung-Ho style and attention to the details going on in people’s everyday lives. His humility and tremendous desire to learn has been so encouraging to all of us who have had the privilege to walk along side him in his journey!
Yesterday Matt gave me and the other men at our “Kingdom Man” HomeTeam a full preview of his message for Sunday Morning. I was personally blown away by God’s power in Matt’s testimony and teaching. The content of the message God has given him, Rich In Character, fits in perfectly with our series this month called BE RICH! I have been saying to people all week, “Matt’s message is going to be soooooo good…..!”
We have found that a church does its best work in developing people when it is done slowly over time. That’s what God has done in Matt’s life and ministry over the last seven years. That’s also the only way a minister and a Man of God is made. We will all find out Sunday how to apply the principles of this kind of tenacious journey to our own lives. I am believing that God will use this message to show us how he wants to use RiverTown to be a church where thousands of people RICH IN CHARACTER are born.

The Deceitfulness of Riches – March 9th
Money Lies. It’s true!
When you have a lot of it you feel like everything is OK and you can do whatever you want. When you think you don’t have enough it feels like you need more in order to be happy. Neither one of those extremes are true!
The problem is that money is often the number one competitor for our hearts, time, and sense of security. The bottom line is that its easy to believe that money promises to give us the happiness and security that comes from God alone.
During the first two weeks of our new series, BE RICH, we faced the fact that everyone in our church qualifies as someone who is very “Rich” by global standards. This Sunday we’ll face the fact that our money lies to us! Jesus called it “…the deceitfulness of riches…” in Mark 4:19.
Join us this Sunday and you’ll be able to say: “I WILL NOT TRUST IN RICHES. BUT IN HIM WHO RICHLY PROVIDES.”

Rich in Good Deeds – March 16th
A bigger house, nicer car, better vacations. Wanting more isn’t always bad, but are we looking for satisfaction in the right places? Maybe it’s not about how much we have, but what we do with what we already have. Join us this Sunday at RiverTown for a new perspective on Being Rich.
No matter how much money you have you can always be rich. The richest people in the world are the ones who have decided to be Rich In Good Deeds!
We have been building a powerful biblical confession phrase-by-phrase each week, based on 1 Timothy 6:17-19, as God leads us through this message series.
GOD HAS BLESSED US WITH MORE THAN WE NEED. WE ARE RICH!
WE WILL NOT TRUST IN RICHES. BUT IN HIM WHO RICHLY PROVIDES.
BECAUSE WE HAVE MORE, WE WILL DO MORE.
I’m dreaming of how God is going to use this week’s message to unleash unprecedented amounts of compassion in our community. The first step in transforming a community a Church that is broken and on it’s knees before God asking Him to allow them to DO MORE in them and through them. I honestly believe that our church IS the answer to the needs in the lives of those around us needing God’s power and help. I’ve heard it said again and again that The Local Church Is The Hope Of The World! I Believe It!
